Bengal is the hub of ethnic diversity and is filled with attractions and intricate relics and monuments. We definitely thrive on the opportunity to get to know these places and add to our own memoirs. And if you are looking for a quiet place to take your day off, Pandua is one such place where you should pay a visit to enjoy the ambience of the location. The place is famous for having the ruins of Pandu Raja’s Palace. The town is around 60/ 65 km from Howrah and can be reached by Burdwan Local, via Mainline, in about one-and-a-half- hours.

In 1340, the king of Pundooah, Panduraja was defeated by Shah Suffiuddin, the sultan of Delhi. A mosque was erected there which is known as the Bari Mosque. The Bari Masjid is also one of the few brick built mosque of Bengal which has terracotta work on its wall. The Dargah is situated very close to the Pandua GT Road.

Another place in Pandua to have mythological significance is the Shrikkhala Devi Shrine. The mythology of the immolation of Sati had an immense effect in the shaping of the Indian culture. And henceforth, developed the ideas of Shakti Peethas. These Shakti Peethas bear the tradition of Indians since time immemorial and is supposed to be enshrined with the presence of Shakti or divine power.
