The Constitution of India grants equal rights to every citizen: CM on International Day of Tolerance

On the International Day of Tolerance Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee impelled to the people “let us redeem our pledge to uphold the Constitution of India that grants equal rights to every citizen".

It was reported that the Chief Minister has raised her voice to demand equal rights for every citizen and she also had criticised the role of the Centre when many people from other parts of the country fell victim to "intolerance". It also mentioned earlier that the Chief Minister had countered the Centre on various occasions, stating as "media was not allowed to work freely".

The Chief Minister has introduced the Maavoi health scheme for journalists in West Bengal. also, she has issued a notification of pension for journalists above 60 years in age under the West Bengal Pension Scheme for Journalists, 2018. The decision has taken to make a norm of "respect and responsibility of the state towards democracy".
