The Accidental Prime Minister

The Accidental Prime Minister is an upcoming Indian political dramatic film directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and written by Hansal Mehta .The film stars Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh , the economist and politician who served as the Prime Minister of india from 2004 to 2014. The film is based on the 2014 memoir of the same name by Sanjaya Baru. It is slated to release on 21 December 2018.

The film casts Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh , Akshaye Khanna as Sanjaya Baru ,Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi and Ahana Khurana as Priyanka Gandhi. The film reportedly is being shot London.The first look of the film was released on 6^th June 2017 through Anupam Kher’s official twitter account. 

Speaking to Economic Times ,  Producer Sunil Bohra said ,” My sole intension is to make a movie covering the 10 most crucial years which changed the political spectrum of our country and sheds light on India’s oldest political party”. Bohra plans to keep the film ‘apolitical’.   

Kher told The Indian Express that playing the role of a contemporary personality like Singh would be challenging. He had been internalising this character for the past few months.
