Tauseef Rehman – the man with a heart of gold

In the modern world of unicellular existence, we hardly come across people who understand and consider the need of others apart from themselves. Standing apart from common people is Tauseef Rehman, a young social worker from West Bengal who has been winning hearts with his contribution towards women and the deprived section of the society.

Tauseef Rehman is a notable name in the field of social work. Rehman has successfully completed various social projects. He has been conducting basic learning sessions on reading and writing and is training the deprived ones with the basics. Apart from this Rehman has been supporting and conducting special programs on health and hygiene. Rehman has even organized various charitable events to raise funds for building toilets especially for women. With such notable initiatives Rehman's cap is adorned with many feathers.

Tauseef Rehman is now the Vice-president of the 'Tiljala Shed Camp' since 2012, which is a non-profitable organization, mainly focuses on the upliftment and education of the needy; empowerment of the minority class women and rehabilitation of the rag pickers in the city. Rehman also volunteered in Nepal after the massive earthquake and even managed to build community centers with the assistance of an NRI Businessman Mr. S. Sushil Advani.

Tauseef Rehman was awarded with the ‘HDFC Asli Heros Award’ from Eastern India for his immense contribution towards woman empowerment, health and sanitation in a remarkably short period of time.

Among the various initiatives that Rehman has taken, The Rice Bucket Challenge in Kolkata is one of the most notable ones. The Rice Bucket Challenge which was started by Rehman in 2014 aims to provide rice buckets to the people below poverty level. Rehman has taken the support of media to promote the cause and bring in more donors. The rice that Rehman gathers is packed in 5kg packets and is distributed to the poor in various slums in the city.

In 2017, Rehman created a breaking record of distributing 39,000 kgs of rice in 5 hours at Ladies Park, which is located in Park Circus.

Tauseef Rehman is indeed a man with a golden heart and Jiyo Bangla is proud of such Kolkatans and salutes him for his contributions towards the City of joy and warmth.
