Thoughts by the Bravest Filmmaker

Rituparno Ghosh, the ace filmmaker left for the heavenly abode on 30th May 2013 and According to Dr Rajiv Seal of Fortis Hospitals, who had been his physician for almost two epochs, Ghosh was also facing hitches from hormone treatments after abdominoplasty and breast implants operations which he endured for his role in Kaushik Ganguly's film, 'Arekti Premer Golpo', in which he played a transgender filmmaker with a bisexual lover.

On his death anniversary, listed below are his few quotes that reveals his multi-faceted persona:

1.When you mimic me are you mimicking me or are you mimicking an
   effeminate man?

2. Writing is my greatest point of engagement with my film. When I write a
line, I know exactly how it should be directed.

3. What inspires me in a novel is the core of an idea. I don’t feel the need to be
loyal to the narrative, only to the spirit.

4. Have you ever thought that whenever you mimic me, so many effeminate
men in Kolkata, in Bengal, feel ashamed, feel humiliated?

5. I was a copywriter with an ad agency, so I used to play with words.
