Special traffic arrangements for Chhath Puja

The Kolkata Police has made special traffic arrangements for the city of Kolkata during the Chhath Puja. These special traffic arrangements are made in order to make things easier for the devotees visiting the ghats of river Hooghly to perform rituals on the day of Chhath Puja. The Traffic Police will temporarily suspend movement of carts and non-motorised vehicles on all the high-capacity urban roads including Rani Rashmoni Avenue, Government Place East, Gostha Pal Sarani, Government Place West, Kshudiram Bose Road, Strand Road, Nimtala Ghat Street, Bagbazar Street, Mullick Ghat Street, Jagannath Ghat Street, Dai Ghat, Beadon Street, Strand Bank Road, B K Paul Avenue, Ahiritala Street, Sovabazar Street and GS Bose Road. Plying of goods vehicles too will be restricted in a few areas like in and around Victoria Memorial Hall, the stretch of AJC Bose Road between D L Khan Road to Cathedral Road, Hospital Road, Queensway, Cathedral Road, Casuarina Avenue and Lovers Lane. Plying of goods vehicles other than the ones carrying the devotees will be completely suspended in the city from 12 pm to 10 pm on November 2 and from 3 am to 10 am on November 3. Special parking guidelines will also be followed. Parking of vehicles will be restricted from 12 pm to 8 pm on November 2 and from 3 am to 10 am on November 3 on a few lanes including Dufferin Road, Beadon Street, Esplanade Row West, Esplanade Row East, Mayo Road, Kingsway, Auckland Road, Kidderpore Road and Nimtala Ghat Street. The road processions of Chhath Puja won’t be allowed on Park Street, Shakespeare Sarani, Ballygunge Circular Road, Park Circus Connector, Loudon Street, Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and Talla Bridge.
