Sister Nivedita University opens cricket academy

The Sister Nivedita University has recently opened a cricket academy in its premises. The university unveiled two concrete pitches which was inaugurated by former Bengal captain and national selector Sambaran Banerjee. Satyam Roychowdhury, Chancellor of the university said, “Now our university students will get to hone their skills in cricket. Even local children can play here. Sambaran da has held cricket workshops for our students in several of the 22 branches of Techno India Group Public School. He will be the chief mentor here”. Both the pitches will be open for the outsiders as well. However, two time slots – 7:30am to 10:30am and 4:30pm to 6:00pm will be reserved for the university students. Registrar Suman Chatterjee said, “Outsiders will be allowed to attend coaching and play in the hours in between when our students would have classes to attend. We are also planning to let corporate bodies use the facility. They are interested in playing in the evening hours. There are plans to install floodlights”. Outside players will have to register for using the pitch with an annual fee of Rs 500. Other sports facilities including football and basketball grounds will be set up in the campus soon.
