Saswata Chatterjee might be a part of Mira Nairs next venture Bengali Detective

It has emerged that in case everything goes well, Saswata Chatterjee might be a part of Mira Nair's next venture Bengali Detective.

Very few people know that a recent conversation between the actor and the critically-acclaimed director at a luxury property in the city has set the rumor ablaze.

Particularly, the rumors got a boost when Nair graced Shah Rukh Khan's residence Mannat, where the actor gave a party to celebrate the success of Chennai Express, which gave ample hint regarding the superstar's involvement in the film. However, neither SRK nor Nair confirmed anything regarding the film.

On the other side, Saswata was apprehensive about disclosing the details of his meeting with Nair. However, after some persuasion and request, the actor revealed that he had auditioned partially for the director's forthcoming project. The actor claimed that it is a bilingual film, a kind of documentary, which is based on real-life events. He auditioned for the role of a police detective. Of course it is a positive role.

When interrogated about the audition, he disclosed that he was asked to read out a few scenes which he did. According to him, the best part was the experience of meeting Mira Nair. He exclaimed that he is absolutely floored by her. Even Bob Biswas of Kahaani has auditioned for a role in the filmmaker's next venture Bengali Detective.

Saswata declared that the Monsoon Wedding maker showered praise on him for his stellar performance just like Bob Biswas in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani. He described that Nair is a scholarly woman, who knows the art of cinema in detail. Yet she is so modest. In addition, she is very much aware about what is happening in Kolkata. The communication continued so smoothly that he didn't feel like an audition at all.

The actor, who is busy with his multiple films, is ready to commence shooting for Churni Ganguly's Nirbashito from Friday. Regarding Nair's film, Saswata mentioned that it was just an audition and nothing has been finalized till now.

Moreover, Bengali Detective is based on a documentary directed by Phil Cox, which was previously screened at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.
