Return of 1911 Trend?

Often we come across things which might be quaint for today’s generation but used to be a part of our daily activities or a certain kind of trend in the past. ‘Football in dhoti’ used to be quite a natural attribute, or rather the attire of the game played in the early 20th century in India. Surprisingly, a few days back some young boys were playing soccer in dhoti in the Lake Kalibari field. Does this mean the younger generation are trying to get the nostalgia back? Is it just the beginning of a football renaissance in Kolkata?

Well a few people are of the belief that the kids might be from the members affiliated with Lake Kalibari. However, they are delighted with the fact that even in this world of technology, gadgets, computer games and studies, children are interested in outdoor games and that too in a long lost tradition!!! And the people also want this trend to spread to other parts of Bengal. However, some were of the opinion that playing the game in dhoti might be troublesome!!! Especially where the sport is played with spikes and shorts, but they also stated that it is really soothing for the eyesight.

Is it a means to revive the lost glory of the golden days of football? The familiar tussle between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan in the derby? What do you think? Please comment down below!!!
