It is believed, that in 1800, the king of Cooch Behar vowed to never touch rice if he failed to dethrone the ruler of Bhutan. After considering the fact, the monarch of Bhutan himself decided to leave the area and as a gesture of amity, a grand feast of rice was organised in the dense forest. And hence the naming of the village.

Among the other attractions of the place, The Nature Interpretation Centre at Rajabhatkhawa is a museum that is focused mainly on wildlife related exhibits.The Orchidarium, another popular attraction of the area, is filled with over 1500 varieties of delicate orchids. And there is also The Animal Rescue Centre, where injured leopards and tigers are provided with treatments.
