Pollution Control Board handed over 300 devices to Kolkata Police for monitoring noise pollution during Diwali

The West Bengal Pollution Board (WBPCB) worked with Kolkata Police to ensure noise limits stayed within that of the prescribed 90 decibels during Diwali celebrations.

According to sources, the WBPCB, by means of a third party, has designed a special instrument to monitor sound levels. While the board was suppose to hand over several hundred such devices, so far 300 machines have been delivered, said sources. “This is the first time that Kolkata Police will be using the instrument provided by PCB to monitor sound, and then take action accordingly,” said an official.
