One more good step by the CM

She once again proved that she is witty. Without naming any opposition party, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee urged Durga Puja committee and organizers not to fall into the trap of any rumor-mongers.

The CM is gearing up for this election season and in order to win the hearts of the Kolkatans, she did something interesting. Durga Puja is around the corner and she has decided to reward the Puja Committee members. More than 100 puja committee attend the event which was held at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata. Delegates Subrata Mukhopadhyay (Minister for Public Health Engineering in the Government of West Bengal), Firhad Hakim (Minister for Urban Development and the Minister for Municipal Affairs in the Government of West Bengal), Sovan Chatterjee (Kolkata Mayor), Laksmi Ratan Sukhla, Police Commissioner of Kolkata Police, Deputy General of Kolkata Police attend the meeting.

CM said that Durga Puja is not West Bengal’s pride but also compared it to a world festival. She said, “Pujo is our pride. On the banks of the river Thames, there had been an exhibition on our pujo.” There are 3,000 Durga Pujas in Kolkata, while 25,000 in the remaining parts of the state. Each of the organizers will receive Rs 10,000. Apart from this, Durga Puja organizers will get 20-23 percent rebate this year on the bill for electricity. The third announcement she made at the same time, license fees to civic bodies and fire department will be off. For this year, the immersion (bishorjon) will continue from October 19 to 22 and the next day the Red Road Carnival will be held. Previous year 55 puja committees took part but this will the number exceed 75.
