Now Didi Ke Bolo digitally

The state government initiative of connecting with people at the grass root level through ‘Didi Ke Bolo’ has garnered an overwhelming response in the opening week. Now it will go a step ahead in an animated form.

Across the state people are calling on 9137091370 to talk to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and talk about their grievances. After the CM and TMC supremo announced it on July 29, huge hoardings and flex containing Mamata Banerjee’s pictures and the phone number had been put up all over the state to generate awareness.

In a newer development, it has been decided that the entire procedure would be depicted through animation for a better understanding for the everyday man about how she or he can make a call and register his or her grievances.

The cartoon film shows that when a person makes a call on that number, another person at the other end receives it and takes the caller’s name, address, profession, which parliamentary constituency, assembly constituency or municipality the caller resided at and then the caller has to tell the problem s/he had called for. The caller’s phone number gets registered and then in the next 48 hours, s/he gets a call from the Chief Minister’s office.

To generate awareness about this initiative where a common man can talk to the CM, visiting cards with the number is being distributed by elected representatives among people of their respective areas.

MPs, MLAs and even block level leaders have been instructed to visit people of their areas and if need be spend a night at their house and listen to their problems and find out ways to solve those.

Sources said that the idea was a brainchild of TMC’s election strategist Prashant Kishore and that it has managed to stunt the growth of BJP in Bengal.

People seem to have found a way to vent their complaints directly to the CM and thus they are trying to take full advantage of the opportunity.
