Not Goa or Kerala but WB

On Monday at the Bengal Tourism Meet by Confederation of Indian Industry, West Bengal has been declared at the sixth position in terms of attracting foreign tourists leaving Kerala and Goa behind. According to the chairman of the tourism sub-committee of CII, Vijay Dewan praised the state’s hospitality, quality service, affordability,and reliability. Darjeeling’s weather, scenic beauty,andtoy trains add more brownie points for its success.

Recently the homestays have gained a lot of popularity among tourists which opened new employment opportunities. Seeing the popularity of homestays, the government will introduce guidelines to regulate homestay industry in both North Bengal and other parts of the state.

The members of Confederation of Indian Industry proposed several other ideas for promoting West Bengal’s tourism industry. Those ideas include the development of entertainment hubs such as places near Park Street, Sector V,Tangra, and New Town, along with the development of heritage sites of Bankura, Birbhum, and Murshidabad.
