New principal for St Xavier’s Collegiate School

The St. Xavier’s Collegiate School situated in Park Street got its new principal after Father M. Thamacin Arulappan took over from Father Benny Thomas who has served this esteemed institution for more than seven years. Father Raphael Joseph Hyde, the provincial of the Calcutta Jesuit Province appointed Father Thamacin as the new head of this Jesuit run institution and he took charge of the office as soon as the school reopen after completing its summer vacation. Father M. Thamacin Arulappan, 44 years old, was the vice principal of St Xavier’s School, Durgapur prior to this appointment. He is a doctorate in biotechnology and has previous experience of being a teacher and the superintendent of the hostel at St Paul’s School in Raghabpur, South 24-Parganas. After taking over his new office, Father Thamacin said, “St Xavier’s School, Calcutta is one of the best institutions in the state. I want to help the institution reach a higher level. I hope to achieve the new goal by introducing new and modern teaching methods and new technology-enabled education”. Father Dominic Savio, the principal of St Xavier’s College and the school rector said, “Father Thamacin is a highly academic person. He has a long teaching experience. At the same time, he has the experience of running a school administration. We are confident that this school will achieve new heights under his leadership”. The former principal Father Thomas will be heading a Jesuit-run school for tribal students in Hooghly’s Pandua for now before being appointed to a new assignment.
