Monsoon to enter Bengal by mid-June

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore has predicted monsoon to enter Bengal by the middle of June. Currently, various parts of South Bengal are receiving pre-monsoon showers and bringing the temperature down as a result. North Bengal too is receiving slight rainfall for the last few days. The Met Department has also predicted moderate to heavy rainfall for South Bengal for the next few days. The city of Kolkata is currently breathing a sigh of relief after it received pre-monsoon rainfall which brought the temperature down and saved the citizens from the tremendous heat spell which lasted for quite a while. South Bengal districts are about to receive more rainfall as the moisture-laden wind from the Bay of Bengal is entering the state. The meteorological department has predicted that monsoon will enter our state in the middle of June. After hitting Kerala by 8th to 9th June, it will take at least a week to move further towards our state. A weather official reported,

The mercury is expected to remain below normal both in North and South Bengal districts giving relief to the people from the hot and humid condition. The discomfort by the high level of humidity will also reduce to intermittent rainfall in the next couple of days. People will experience pleasant weather. A low-pressure trough has currently been extending from Rajasthan to Mizoram contributing to the weather system that brings the pre-monsoon rainfall.
