Metro speed normalised

The speed of Kolkata Metro Railway trains has now been normalised during entry and exit from the Esplanade station. The rakes were being slowed down during entry and exit from Esplanade station from January due to construction work of East West Metro. The standard speed of the trains was lowered down to 10 km/hour while entering or leaving the Esplanade station as a normal precautionary measure due to the tunnel boring works of the East West Metro corridor. The speed cap was implemented for the North-South Metro from the third week of January when the tunnel boring operations had started. This reduction of speed resulted in Metro services running behind schedule and the trains taking more time to complete a trip. Usually a metro takes 49 minutes on an average to complete a trip from Kavi Subhas to Noapara, but after the speed cap was implemented it took 51 minutes which often resulted in cancellation of trains. Since the schedule was getting affected, the metros remained packed up with passengers during heavy rush hours. But with the speed limit now being lifted, the metro services will operate in its normal schedule.
