Kolkata’s farmer’s son behind the success of Chandrayaan 2

A farmer’s son from Bengal has become a key part of the Chandrayaan-2 mission, which is currently the country’s most ambitious space project. Chandrakanta, son of farmer Madhusudan Kumar hails from Shibpur village in Hooghly district and is a scientist who joined ISRO in 2001. From helping his father in the field to playing a key role in the Chandrayaan-2 mission, this boy from Bengal has come a long way. Chandrakanta has covered a long journey before ending up in such a prestigious position, where he is in charge of the satellite system that acts as a communication link between the Moon rover and the mission control on Earth. Chandrakanta’s father is overwhelmed to know that his boy is playing a key role in the moon mission and even when the mission was postponed, the family was equally excited and proud. Madhusudan Kumar, Chandrakanta's father said, "I don't understand much about the work but since his seniors were confident of his work, therefore, he has been given such a big responsibility. We are hopeful that it will be successful”. Interestingly, Chandrakanta's brother Shashikant is also a part of ISRO and both of the sons of the farmer father have become successful space scientists.
