Kolkata International Film Festival will be a star-studded glitzy affair this year!

Since Honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took over the reins of power in West Bengal, the annual film festival of the state has witnessed a glitzy makeover.
Last year, the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) was graced by Amitabh Bachchan as well as Bengal brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan. This year too, apart from Big B and SRK, actress-politician Jaya Bachchan, talented director Adoor Gopalakrishnan and veteran actor Kamal Haasan are scheduled to grace the event. According to the sources, the 19th KIFF, which is scheduled to take place from 10th to 17th November, will certainly be high on star power right from the beginning to the end.
It has emerged that the festival will commence with a Rituparno Ghosh film. The convener of KIFF Shibaji Panja confirmed that the festival will kick start with the Hindi version of Rituda's yet-to-be-released film, Sunglass. Now it is called as Taank Jhaank. Recently, it has been confirmed from the production house about holding the movie's rights. In fact, the Bengali version will be a part of the Rituparno Ghosh retrospective. Interestingly, this is the first time that the Bengal audience will be able to view the film.
Moreover, the Thaali Girl is yet to be finalized. Sources reveal that it might be Subhashree or Raima Sen.
Sharmila Tagore has been confirmed for the Satyajit Ray Memorial Lecture, which is an addition to the festival this year. More than that, few Bengali actresses working in Bollywood are also expected to grace the occasion. They are Bipasha Basu, Rani Mukherjee, Sushmita Sen and Moushumi Chatterjee. Particularly, Sushmita and Bipasha have already confirmed their presence at KIFF. It is heard that the festival authorities will also be inviting the Bengali directors in Bollywood-Shoojit Sircar, Sujoy Ghosh and Dibakar Banerjee.
If that is not enough, there will be music and dance performances just like last year, but the festival committee is currently working on the details. Apparently, it would be a gala as well as a memorable affair.
