Indian Oil on mission green

Indian Oil Limited is on a green mission and due to this it has decided to invest around Rs 1,000 crores in the state of Bengal for green initiatives. BS IV vehicles which are operational around the country have a presence of 50 ppm (parts per million) sulphur in its emissions, this is why the government is planning to introduce BS VI vehicles which will have a presence of 10 ppm sulphur in its emissions and will be more environmental friendly. But to resolve the issue to emissions from BS IV vehicles, the Indian Oil Limited is planning to set up a Diesel Emission Additive Plant at Budge Budge in South 24 Parganas. This project is worth Rs 150 crore and is currently awaiting clearance from the ministry. The company will also start supplying BS VI standard fuel soon in its petrol pumps. Pritish Bharat, Indian Oil Limited Executive Director (Bengal state office) said,

We will be supplying BS VI standard fuel from all outlets of IOL from April 2020. The infrastructure for this is being developed. We are spending Rs 500 crores for this project in Haldia.

Indian oil currently has 1,200 petrol pumps in the state and also provides LPG cylinders to 2.09 crore consumers of the state.
