Huge response from the State farmers in obtaining paddy

West Bengal Government’s paddy obtaining scheme has gained a huge response from the State farmers which is eight times more than the last year. The State Government in the last ‘Kharif’ season attained 27,000 tonnes of paddy from the farmers whereas during the 2018-19 ‘Kharif’ marketing season (KMS) 2.14 lakh tonnes of paddy have already been brought and the primary reason for such vast response is the MSP set by the state government which is Rs 300 more per quintal in comparison to the open market.

After looking at such huge response from the state farmers, government has revised uphill its total acquisition target to 52 lakh tonnes. To enable the farmers to sell their own paddy or at least a part of it depending on the production of the farmer and the government’s reaching its intended target of 52 lakh tonnes, a limit of 90 quintals per farmer has been set up so that even the most deprecated of the farmers would be able to sell their manufacture.
