HS ’19 results are out

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has declared the results for this year’s higher secondary examination which was held between 26th February and 13th March 2019. Dr. Mahua Das, President of WBCHSE conducted a press conference at 10 am at Rabindra Milan Mancha, Vidyasagar Bhavan of the Council and announced the results along with this year’s merit list which has names of more than 100 candidates. This year 7,77,266 students appeared for the higher secondary examination and the overall pass percentage is 86.29 percent. Last year, the pass percentage was 83.75 percent and it has increased by 3.86% this year. The first rank has been grabbed by Shovan Mandal of Birbhum Zilla School and Rajarshee Barman from Cooch Behar, both of them have broken all records and scored 498 marks out of 500 (99.6%). 7,818 students have scored above 90 percent this year and 137 students have secured the top ten ranks. Purba Midnapore has the highest pass percentage of 94.19 percent which is followed by Kolkata with a pass percentage of 91.41 percent and Paschim Midnapore standing third with a pass percentage of 90.94 percent. The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Bannerjee took to Twitter to congratulate the students who excelled in this year’s HS examination and wished them luck for their future. Last year, the higher secondary results were out on June 8 with a pass percentage of 82.43.
