Heritage ride down the Hooghly

Kolkata Port Trust is to start a heritage tour on river Hooghly from 28th April. The cruise tour is called: ‘A Voyage through Tide and Time’ and is exclusively managed by the Kolkata Port trust. It will start from Maritime Heritage Centre at old Fairlie Warehouse and from there the cruise will go to the Historic Man of War Jetty at Princep Ghats. From there a separate vessel will take the tourists to Koliaghat jetties, touching the Howrah Bridge, the Khidderpore Dock lock gates, the BNR house (Nawab Wajid Ali Shah once resided there), the Suriname Memorial and the journey will end at the Indenture Memorial and Old Clock Tower site.

The Kolkata Port Trust wants to run the tour on weekends and it requires at least twenty people to organise the tour. The tourism department has decided to help promote this heritage trip without any tie-ups. The tour will be of three hours and it will cost Rs 1399 for Indians and Rs 2499 for foreigners.
