Happy Charioteers: New wage system for drivers and conductors

The State transport department finally decided to replace the bus commission system with the salary scheme. The new scheme will come into force from August 15th. This scheme will not decide the bus drivers’ and conductors’ salary based on the earnings.

Currently, the drivers get 12-14% and the conductors get 6-9% of the bus’s daily earnings. According to the survey, there are 4,500 private buses in the city that makes three to four trips a day and calculating from that a driver earns Rs.12-14000 each month.

Once the salary system starts the drivers will receive 450-600 per day and the conductors will get 250-300 a day irrespective of the bus’s earnings.
