Green Corridor arranged for young student Sairin Naz by OC of Watgunge Police Station

Watgunge Police Station, Khidderpore has been the talk of the town since yesterday because of the marvellous act of their officers. Madhyamik Board exams are ongoing and the Officer in Charge of Watgunge Police Station, Amit Biswas was on duty along with Sub-Inspector Tathagata Sadhu. Around 11:45 when they reached Mohon Chand Road, they found a young girl crying by the roadside. It turned out that young Sairin Naz was crying for not being able to reach the right examination center on time. She was supposed to reach Rammohan Vidyamandir girls High School of Mullick Garden for her Board Exams but she mistakenly reached Bankim Ghosh Memorial Girls’ School instead.

The importance of the situation led Mr. Amit Biswas to arrange for a bike and he also asked Mr. Sadhu to help her reach the right examination center on time. Mr. Biswas then spoke immediately to Lalbazar control room and traffic control room and ensured that a green corridor was provided to Sairin Naz for a distance of 15 kms from Khidderpore to Beleghata. During that time all the signals in AJC Bose Road, AJC Bose Road Flyover, E.M Bypass and Chingrighata were green while Beleghata Police station and other stations around were ready to ensure her safe passage. Sairin Naz reached her examination center right at 12.22 p.m.

Though Sairin Naz reached her examination center, she was half an hour late. Therefore, she was afforded an additional half an hour to complete her Bengali paper.

When Amit Biswas, Officer in Charge of Watgunge Police Station was approached to speak on this, he said: “I thought that this was the first exam in a student’s life and now that she has made a mistake, it was our duty to take her to the right destination. I am a family person, and I too have a daughter. Even if I was not a family person it is the moral duty of every cop to show the citizens the right path and to guide them through their difficulties. That is the time when they need us the most.”

We give kudos to Kolkata Police.
