Five Mishmi Takins Sent To Darjeeling Zoo!!

Five Mishmi takins, an endangered goat-antelope species, aged between seven months and three years, will be sent to the Darjeeling zoo. A part of an exchange programme, Darjeeling Zoo will be sending two red Pandas in a trade-off for the five mishkins from Berlin, Germany. The endangered animals reached Kolkata early morning and from there they will be taken to Darjeeling zoo. This particular species is the national animal of Bhutan, and indigenous to India, Myanmar and China. Three males and two females of the Mishmi takins were brought from the Tierpark Berlin adventure park in Germany in exchange for the one male and one female red Panda. Authorities of the Darjeeling zoo stated that they had been trying to bring the animals almost a year prior to the finalization of the exchange programme. And now, the Darjeeling zoo will be the only zoo in India to provide shelter to the Mishmi takins.
