Facebook suspends 200 apps for potential misuse of data

So far 200 apps have been suspended by Facebook in the first stage of its review into apps that had access to large quantities of user data. The response to a scandal around political consultancy Cambridge Analytica, the company said in late March that it would be investigating apps that “had access to large amounts of information” before Facebook changed its policies in 2014 to reduce access to users' data.

Facebook was hit by the privacy scandal in mid-March after media reports that Cambridge Analytica improperly accessed data to build profiles on American voters and influenced the 2016 presidential elections. Zuckerberg apologized for the mistakes his company made and testified before the U.S. lawmakers. However, the company did not mention which apps were suspended as part of the investigation.
