Explore the unexplorable Duarsini

Planning for any unexplored yet mystical destination this weekend? West Bengal has a lot to offer in this respect. The little village Duarsiniis full of dark green forests with ample Shimul, Piyal, Sal and Palash trees. Tribes over here are of unique qualities and hold different cultures together.

Duarsini is a hamlet, which is very less connected and while this place frequented by holidaymakers, with time, this will offer the most exploratory phase of one’s life.

How to reach: If you have planned a trip to Duarsini for your weekend trip, then the easiest way to reach Duarsini in Purulia is to travel 12 kms from Galudi. From there you have to take the border of West Bengal and then enter Purulia district. As Duarsini is full of jungles, it is always best to visit anytime of the year sans rainy season.

What to see: If you are in Duarsini then pay a visit to the tribal villages where you can meet the Shabaradh, Kheriya, Santhal and Munda people. The jungle is the most important place to visit in Duarsini as there are many animals like hyena, wolf, elephants, bears, pigs etc. Visit Bhalo hills which is just three kilometers from Duarsini. If you are romantic enough, then spend some quality time with your partner on the banks of river Satgudum. Musical performances by the tribals are worth watching.

Where to stay: Duarsini is quite an infrequent place; therefore, you will not be getting too many high rated hotels and lodges. But you will find cottages are there for the tourists. These are well maintained by the Forest Development Nigam. Food is obtainable along with the stay. Homestays are also available but not that prevalent yet.
