Environment quiz competition at Andhra Association School

The World may celebrate ‘World Environment Day’ on June 5th but the schools of Kolkata are celebrating it every day. They are doing every bit to make sure that Mother Earth is safe. Bhavan's Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir took the initiative to conduct an environmental awareness quiz competition on June 19th.

Well, 8 days later on 27th July another school took a similar initiative and conducted an environment awareness quiz. This time it was Andhra Association School which collaborated with VINISHA (an NGO organized to create awareness for a greener environment) for an interactive session. The quiz competition started from 10 am and extended till 1 pm. It was an inter-school competition where 14 students from 7 schools participated. The event aimed to create awareness among students and teachers about environment-related issues like smog, regular usage of plastic and many such environmental hazards.

Quizmaster Rajiv Sanyal and Environment Activist Mr. Ramesh Chandan conducted this competition with full enthusiasm. However, the discussion centered around climate change and what should be done to overcome this hindrance. The 7 schools participated in this ‘Environment Quiz Competition 2018’ are:

  • National High School, Sarat Bose Road
  • Jewish Girls’ School, Park Street
  • Andhra Association School, Shahnagar Road (the host school)
  • Shri Shikshayatan School, Elgin
  • Nava Nalanda High school
  • K.Ghosh Memorial School, Lake Gardens
  • National High School, Ballygunge.

National High School, Hazra Road won the competition with 135 points and the runners-up school was National High School, Sarat Bose Road with 120 points.
