Eating A Lot When Depressed or Sad?

It has been observed that when we are depressed or sad we tend to eat more, especially the junk food. According to the scientists, there is a strong connection between being depressed and eating chocolates! There are few foods that actually boost our mood if incorporated into our diet.

Consultant Nutritionist Dr. RupaliDatta stated that “People eat lots of food to ease themselves and turn away their attention from the existing situation. They turn to generally high fat and sugary foods to feel relieved. Hormones also play a pivotal role in eating and shifting moods."

Very few of us know that having these kinds of foods are very addictive. It helps in the release of dopamine, the feel-good neurotransmitter in our brain. Therefore, when we are sad, we tend to have junk foods to make ourselves feel better. But unfortunately, overeating these foods can make you fat in spite of giving you a relaxed feeling.
