Don’t miss out on anything with 25 hours a day

The rotation of the earth on its axis gives us two distinct light conditions within a span of 24 hours (time for one complete rotation). However, this phenomenon is majorly affected by the movement and the position of the moon. Previously, (millions of years ago) there used to be only 18 hours and 41 minutes a day and currently it is 24 hours a day and soon there might be 25 hours a day. The days on earth are getting longer as the earth’s rotation is slowing down because the moon is slowly moving away from it. The relation between Earth's spin and the location of Moon has been compared to the relationship of a spinning figure skater and his arms by the author of geoscience, Stephen Meyers.

The skater, by stretching out his arms, slows down his spinning speed quite like the spinning speed of the Earth which is slowing down as the moon is distancing itself from the planet.
