Cyclone Fani expected to cause series of storms over Bengal

After a week of scorching heat, the city and its outskirts are to get a relief, as Cyclone Fani hits the coasts.

The mercury in Kolkata refused to go down, with heat waves raging upon Bengal for past weeks. The warm Northwesterly winds kept blowing all over the city, as temperature rose up to 35.8° C, while it felt like 44° C on the road. The cyclone is said to be developing over southeast Bay of Bengal and moving northwards at a speed of 4km/hr. It was last located at 870km southeast of the Chennai coast and 1040km south-southeast of Macchlipatnam of Andhra Pradesh on Monday. According to report, the cyclone may not hit any land, and mostly will hit the seas. Fani is expected to bring moisture and relief to the city, through thunderstorms and gusting winds up to 60-50km/hr and rising, as its course is still uncertain. However, precautions have been taken in the coastal area, across Bengal as well as the Nation. Ports have been warned, tourist in sea areas of West Bengal and Odisha has been suspended, and Fishermen’s are warned to not go on any venture. Cyclone Fani is said to hit by 2nd May.
