Common Guidelines To Be Followed For Dengue Treatment

A treatment protocol would soon be sent out for the benefit of the dengue patients at private hospitals and nursing homes by the civic body. The guidelines for dengue control laid down under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme by the central health ministry would be abided by the protocol. The same set of treatment rules would be sent by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) health department to private practitioners.

Following a few simple steps and constant monitoring of dengue patients during their stay at private hospital or nursing can save their lives. The guidelines conveyed by KMC health department in presence of senior state government health department officials, were welcomed by the physicians. After the decision was taken, the doctors and the private physicians conceded that in the absence of the guidelines, individual doctors follow their own protocols while treating a patient. Constant monitoring of fever, blood pressure, and urination of a dengue patient is extremely vital and along with that, the patients should refrain from unnecessary transfusion of platelets. According to the senior officials, the civic body needs to enforce the treatment protocol at the nursing homes to reduce dengue-related mortality.
