Catholic Association of Bengal gets its first ever female President

An organisation of the Roman Catholics, ‘The Catholic Association of Bengal’ recently got its first-ever female president in 107 years. The executive committee of the association elected Angelina Mantosh Jasnani in a meeting held at St Thomas Church. The association currently has members from 20 different Catholic churches of Bengal, with 2 members from each church that set up the executive committee. This 40-member executive committee elects the president. The association is involved with humanitarian works like uplifting the poor, promoting education and providing healthcare to the less privileged. After being appointed as the first ever woman president of the association, Jasnani expressed her thoughts and said, "I am overwhelmed to have been elected the first woman president of the association. I have been working with the church for several years. I am associated with various social welfare activities. My focus will be on bringing together the lay men and women in the Catholic community and work towards solving various problems of the society. Education, health and jobs will be the main focus of our work".
