Cardio…A friend or Foe?

It has long been debated by fitness experts, whether cardio is beneficial or detrimental to your muscle gains. While some spoke highly of its benefits, some completely refrained from the concept of it. How often did we see serious lifters, completely neglecting cardio, saying that it usually “burns muscle” But still people don’t seem to reach a conclusion, Is cardio truly your foe or a friend in disguise?

We can shred some light to it (geddit!!! Lol)

Here’s what cardio does to your body!

  • Cardio is short for cardiovascular exercise, it regulates your heart rate, which helps you to keep it in shape and healthy. By pumping blood faster, it makes your heart an ace of the life game!

  • Along with increasing your heart rate, cardio also increases your other bodily functions, which in turn increases your metabolism! Hence it boosts fat loss.

  • Cardio has also been related to give you better pumps during your workouts, not only that it also improves hormonal functions of the body, hence more testosterone.

These were some good sides, but there is also a flip side to it!

  • The nightmare of every lifters, yes, cardio does burn muscles…but only if it is done for a very long interval.
  •  
  • In some cases, cardio has been connected to joint pain and inflammations, including arthiritis.
  •  
  • Cardio can also in some cases cause sleeplessness, hence slowing down your body’s recovery.

The point is everything has its good and bad sides, it entirely depends on what your goals are and your how are you regulating your workouts!...
