Brighton 1-5 Liverpool | Roberto Firmino seals a brace while Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho adds to the goals tally as Liverpool get back to top four

Liverpool was lethal going forward with the first goal coming from a Emre Can header from a corner provided by Coutinho.

Liverpool added a second goal very soon with Salah streaking to the edge of Brighton’s area and then passed to Coutinho, who helped it across and Firmino cooly finished the move with a simple tap to the far post.

Liverpool’s third of the night came a little later at the 49th minute, when Firmino played the ball to Salah who dribbled forward through a couple of challenges and sent Firmino who sent it past cooly beyond Brighton goal keeper Mat Ryan.

Murray scored a penalty for Brighton’s solo goal but Phillipe Coutinho soon added a fourth goal for Liverpool with a sublime free-kick.

The fifth and ultimate goal came when Coutinho’s shot deflected off Lewis Dunk into the back of Brighton’s net.

The resounding win, however seemed to paper over the cracks in Liverpool as a defensive unit with Wijnaldum on the left of the back three frequently look a little lost, not knowing where to position himself or who should be marking whom. On the other hand, while Emre Can’s performance in Liverpool defence was good enough, it might be bit more than optimistic to say that he will be able to manage in defence while Joel Matip is out injured. Emre Can seemed a bit tired towards the later part of the game when he tripped Brown on the edge of Liverpool's area and getting away with allowing Murray time and space to shoot from close range in the 72nd minute.

Nonetheless, after scoring five goals at the other end, there is little to complain, but tougher opponents could cause Liverpool serious problems in the near future.
