A terrible fire broke out at the government office on Central Avenue.

A massive, terrible fire broke out in a multi-story government office building of the Public Health Engineering Department in Central Kolkata at Ganesh Chandra Avenue. The fire was reported around 10 a.m. on the fifth floor of the office building.

As the office staff had yet to arrive, no one was injured in the fire. The people in that area got panicked and were frightened. According to their sayings, there was no damage to the property, and no casualties were reported. But it seems that all the documents and papers inside the office have been destroyed in the fire.

At first, six fire engines were called to control the fire, but again, four engines were called after an hour as the fire was going out of control. Due to the heat pressure from the fire, the window glass on the sixth floor cracked. The whole area was overcast with thick plumes of smoke. The whole building has been disconnected from electricity. The cause of the fire is not known, but the public is guessing that the fire broke out from a short circuit in the metre box.

The fire incident comes just over a month after the massive fire in Howrah, in which over 100 shops were gutted in a market area of Ludlow Bazaar at Uluberia in Howrah. Ten fire tenders brought the blaze under control after fighting it for over four hours.
