713 companies of Central Forces for 6th phase

The Election Commission (EC) of India is going to deploy 713 companies of Central Forces during the polling to be held in eight constituencies of Bengal. These eight parliamentary constituencies - Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura, and Bishnupur will go for polls on May 12. The Election Commission determined to ensure a peaceful voting process has left no stone unturned for the safety of the voters during the 6th phase of elections. S Ravindran, IG, CRPF, West Bengal said that 713 companies of Central Force will be deployed to conduct the polling process along with 112 state armed police from various parts of the country. He also mentioned that 500 Quick Response Teams (QRT) will be deployed for patrolling and handling critical situations if it occurs. The Special Police Observer Vivek Dubey has conducted several meetings with election officials and Police officers of the district to make sure that the voting process ends smoothly. The EC has even identified trouble-prone areas in those eight constituencies for better protection of the voters there. The Election Commission has made adequate arrangements for extra EVMs in case some of them malfunctions.
