On the historical occasion of glorious 100 years of Bengali Cinema and 50 years of Eastern India Motion Picture Directors Association (EIMPDA) took an initiative of organizing an event of cultural significance titles ‘Bangla Chalachitrer Gourab Sandhya’ on 29th March, 2020.
Before this event, a press conference was held at the Press Club. EIMPDA is looking forward to make this historical mega celebration a remarkable success by felicitating the Filmmakers, Artists and Technicians who have been constantly making Bengali Cinema proud with this priceless contribution. ‘Bangla Chalachitrer Gourab Sandhya’ will remember the legendary artists who are no longer with us, providing grants to underprivileged Technicians who have been constantly making Bengali Cinema proud with their priceless contribution. The event was graced by imminent personalities like legendary director Sandip Ray, actress Madhabi Chatterjee, vice president of EIMPDA Biresh Chatterjee, Anjan Bose, Raja Sen, Raja Mitra, Papiya Adhikari, Sanjay Mukherjee, Bimal Dey (General Secretary of EIMPDA), Sekhar Das, Anjan Bose, Ashok Bhadra. Speaking with Sandip Ray, when asked about how he feels being the chair-person of EIMPDA, Ray smiled and said, “I was keen to be part of the directors association. Instead of that they made the Chair person.”
