'Niri Nine International Film Festival' a hit in Kolkata!

A two-day 'Niri Nine International Film Festival' was held at Kalamandir in Kolkata recently where eminent actress Seema Biswas, music artist Zubin Garg and Carlita Mohini graced the occasion. The film festival took place on March 25-26th. The festival was first held in 2021 in Guwahati and the event was well received, since then it has turned into a legacy.

Films were screened in three categories: short films, full-length films and documentaries. A total of 20 films were nominated in the short film category; 8 films were nominated in full length and there were 5 films in the list of documentaries. Films for the festival were selected from around 300 entries from across the country. The entries which placed first, second and third had cash prizes of INR 70,000, INR 50,000 and INR 40,000 respectively.

The prizes were presented on the final day of the film festival where ‘Nitant Sahaj Saral’ won the first award for Best Feature Film. Second prize was given to 'Ojha'. 'Panisokari' placed third. The Best Director award was presented to Mridul Gupta. Best documentary award was given out to 'Man and the Wild'. The second best 'Khejuri' and the third best prize was presented to 'Virubala'. Pakistan's film 'Nomad Needs' received special jury honours. The Best Documentary Director award was presented to Palash Das. 'Ukirdyacha Gharat' won the best short film award with 'Red' being the second and third place was given to 'Malala Weeps Corona Go'.
